Say YES to the dress!

Today I got to go dress shopping with Aunt Jesse! Preston says "technically shes not really our aunt...well, at least, not YET." geez that boy. Anyway, you know I would post a picture or two- but that would be cheating. What I will say is that I'm pretty sure she's found 'THE ONE!' :o)

It was fun to do that with her. I've really never been wedding dress shopping. When it was my turn I walked into a shop and they told me I would never find a dress like the one I wanted- uh, they were wrong. Just ask Jan Jacobsen to make it and it'll turn out perfect!!! When it was Al's turn I just searched the web and a few stores- but always by myself. This was fun. I think Jesse got tired/bored/annoyed/burned out pretty quick. But she did great. We looked at several dresses- including bridesmaids dresses. Afterwards we went for some yummy Cold Stone ice cream. I mean, why not!?

I would tell you all more- but I should leave something for Jesse to share. :o)

Slow motion

I feel like I'm moving in slow motion. Everything I try to do takes me twice as long. Oh how I would love to have some energy.

Shannon has TONS. She's already posted a little about out trip. She'll continue to post for the next few days. Someday I might get around to putting pics up on mine. But for now you can SEE and read all about it on http://itssewshannon.blogspot.com/

Have fun!

A converstaion with Paris

1:04 pm. [We had just finished lunch and I realized that not only did Paris clear her bowl, but scraped it and rinsed it as well]

Me: "Paris, thank you so much for clearing your bowl"

Paris: "Well I wasn't going to eat anymore"

Me: "Did I tell you how much I missed you when I was in Minnesota"

Paris: "No. But I really missed Shannon."

Me: jaw-dropped and speechless, but with a smile

Paris: "What? She's my friend!"

And what am I, chopped liver? :o)
Gotta love that girl!

Home again, home again

I tucked myself into my own bed around 11:30pm last night. What a week! Market was nice but exhausting. Just getting to MN was a chore.

Our flight from SLC took off and we headed to Denver. Unfortunately there was 'severe weather' including a tornado watch when we landed which meant an extra hour and 45 minutes sitting on the tarmack (sp?). It wasn't TOO bad. We were worried about missing out connection but since no plans were landing or taking off we were reasured that it would be fine. Finally we reached out gate and hurried off the plane. Except when we stopped at the 'Departure' screen our flight wasn't listed. Hmmm. We continued to walk towards our gate anyway. As soon as we got there the worker says "Shannon and Emily? hurry up. We were about to close the doors!" Whew.

We were 2 hours late arriving in MN. It was now 1:30am. Of course, the rental car counter was closer. We were told we needed to go to the 'OTHER' terminal. No one said it was 1/2 a mile to the light rail station- WITH ALL OUR BAGS! It was torture. We finally made it to the train and the other terminal only to find that they were all closed too. Well, except one. But my reservation was for $200 for the week and they wanted to charge $130/day. Uh, I don't think so. I finally decided to call the hotel (before resorting to a taxi) and they said they'd send the shuttle to pick us up! How fantastic was that. Wish we would have done that right off the bat. Oh well.

Finally arrived at the hotel and tucked ourselves into bed around 4 am. *sigh*

And that was only day 1! :o)

the big M

Tomorrow I'm headed to Minneapolis. I know, what was I thinking? Actually, when I planned and PAID FOR this trip I didn't know about the bumpy road ahead. That was back in Nov/Dec. had I known I was going to be having 2 surgeries and living without a thyroid at this time, I would have reconsidered. But now that all if my stuff is on a truck headed to MN, I feel a little bit better.

I'm taking my quilting-friend Shannon with me. She's a hoot! I'm going to have to feed off of her energy for this trip. Ever since this thyroid thing I've been drinking lots of soda. Lots for me, not lots of 'normal' soda drinkers. that means I have a couple drinks a week. I don't even have a preference anymore- as long as it has caffeine in it to give me a boost. I already prepped Shannon and told her "If I start to get cranky, send me out for a Coke!' (She's a diet coke addict along with the rest of the Utah Co. population)

I know once I'm there I'll have a blast and be so glad I went. But right now I just can't seem to pack.

What? A bunch of Bull?

OK, maybe not a bunch, but ONE!

Gilbert found out today that he 'drew' a bull moose tag. For those of you who are not hunters, make no mistake-

THIS IS A BIG DEAL!!!

Every year that Gilbert applies for a tag he gets a point. He's applied for many different animals including bear and mountain goat. Usually it takes several years to accrue enough points. However, it's still the luck of the draw. A few of Gilbert's friends have anywhere from 10-14 points and haven't drawn.

GILBERT HAS 2!

He's a lucky guy. He's been on cloud nine all night since he found out. This is major considering usually he's bad mouthing the DNR because he didn't draw anything. Although this means he's going to be putting a lot of time and effort into this 'BIG' hunt it's ok, because he deserves it. He's put in quite a few hours being Mr. Mom over the last couple months. There's been more than a couple mornings I've awaken to find he'd cleaned the kitchen before work. And he's becoming a regular at putting the kids to bed. He hasn't even complained about eating microwaved taquitos for dinner. So he definately deserved to get it.

P.S. he told me if they stay in cabins that I get to go on the hunt! I LOVE that idea (and I'm NOT being sarcastic) :o)

I haven't posted for a while- did you notice? :o) I was trying to forget about the month of April. It hasn't been great.

A few weeks ago I went to church and I was so annoyed at everyone asking how I was doing. Ugh. I felt GREAT except for everyone bugging me.

Now I don't mind people asking me because I can answer them honestly- I feel CRAPPY. Not having a thyroid sucks. The meds I'm on have side effects that make me feel even worse. Shakiness. Weak muscles. Depression. YUCK! So I decided to take a little less of the meds and guess what? Side-effects have lessened quite a bit. But now the sleepiness has returned. I came home from church today and slept for almost 4 hours.

So I haven't posted lately because I just don't have the energy. tomorrow I hope to talk with my Doc and get a different med. Hopefully that will make things a lot easier.
