I've done lost my mind!

Seriously. I don't know what I was thinking. These last few weeks have been CRAZY to say the least. I remember sitting in San Diego and having a mild panic attack thinking of all the things I needed to take care of in the weeks to come. Now those weeks are upon me and I am losing my mind.

School will be done tomorrow- but that's the last of my worries. I didn't do as well as I wanted this semester, but at this point I really don't care. I just need a break.

The last two days have been spent gathering the last information from the 'shop' so I can get all the taxes wrapped up- FOR THE LAST TIME! hallelujah!

The printing is out of control. Mostly because I have orders galore. Woo Hoo! This is great- but right before MARKET!? Aaaahhhh! Maybe it's just preparing me for what's to come after market. If so, bring it on. Because after all my running around back and forth to printing companies I better be getting on top of this soon.

While I've been busy doing all this running around my house has fallen into shambles. I'm not kidding. I took pictures, but alas, didn't load them to the comp. So today, despite the fact that I have taxes to wrap up, accounts to pay in Orem, cover sheets to pick up at the printer-

I AM CLEANING! I just can't stand it anymore. And knowing that next week at this time I'll be gone to SLC for 4 days and then to PA for 6, I just can't put it off anymore.

If you don't hear from me within the week- send help! ;o)

Weekend Update

It's been a while- I think I'll blog.

Finals week. Need I say more.

My baby turned 4. I can't believe she is already. Uncle Evan bought her a toy vacuum and no batteries. After a whole day of asking I brought some home to her last night. She was asleep on the couch. I picked her up and grogily (is that a word) she looked at me through half-closed eyes and said "did you get batteries?" I replied "yes, I did" to which she said "you're the best." and then closed her eyes and returned to slumber land. Today she vacuumed the ENTIRE house, more than once. A toy vacuum WITH batteries is not a good idea when you have finals. oh well.

I'm up to my ears in patterns. Actually, I'm up to my ears in pattern orders. I cannot keep my printer stocked with ink and my shelves stocked with patterns before they're requested by another shop (usually MODA). I am not complaining- I am blessed. I'm looking into printing/publishing companies- maybe my money tree will bloom tomorrow.

1 sit up too short. Gilbert took his physical test today. He passed everything with flying colors. then it was time to do sit-ups. When you get to the point where you can't do anymore you need to stop in the 'up' position. When he was at this point (one away from the goal) he stopped in the 'up' position but the Dr. said he did it incorrectly and therefore it didn't count. AH! So, he gets to wait a month (maybe 2 weeks if we're lucky) and try again.

That's all for now!

WANTED: PRAYERS!

I know that I don't have a huge audience with this blog. But most of you that read this blog know us pretty well.

Gilbert has been battling a hurt back for a few weeks. It is slowly getting better and we recognize that we have been truly blessed. In fact, last week when we were in San Diego, the morning of his interview he woke up and was able to walk normally. This was HUGE because if the agents saw him limping around there was a good chance he wouldn't have passed.
Well, he passed his interview and several hours later the pain started to come back and he was limping again.

Today Gilbert got the call to schedule his PT/Physical exam. We were thinking this call would come a few weeks down the road. When the gov't tells you to do something, you do it. In this case, he cannot reschedule.

I'm asking that all of you remember him in your prayers. We know this is the right move for our family to make. His recovery is going well, he just has a little more to go.

Thanks.

Last night- Parents' Choice

Tonight was our last night in sunny San Diego. Overall we've had a great time. But 5 days is a long time to be cooped up in a hotel room with your 3 kids. Needless to say, Gilbert is ready for a vacation from his vacation.

Since it was our last night we talked the kids into going to P.F.Chang's for dinner. It was great and the kids actually liked it- once they realized that it really was good and that we weren't trying to poison them. :o)

At the end of the meal the waiter brough us our fortune cookies. The kids didn't really care- except Logan, whose fortune cookie read: "Be good to yourself. Dessert 3 times a week is o.k."
We really got a kick out of that one.

But the coolest fortune's were mine and Gilbert's.

My fortune read: "You deserve respect and will eventually get it" I added the italics to remind myself of that part.

Gilbert's fortune read: "Your present plans are going to succeed within the year" Obviously we were pleased considering the reason we came to San Diego anyway.

All in all it was a nice trip, but we'll be glad to be home again tomorrow evening.

On being a Mom

Yesterday we went to Sea World. The weather was nice. The forecast called for a temp of 65 with light wind. We figured it would be the best day to go to the park and not roast. We had a great time.
Upon entering the park I lined everyone up and slathered them with sunblock. Gilbert hates this part. But I insist that he put it on and he gives in. He knows that if he doesn't put it on then I will put it on for him- he doesn't like that :o) I made sure the kids' faces were done and especially their ears. Had them put on their hats and lotioned their necks. Next I did their arms and legs. Everyone covered? Great. I turned and used the car window as my mirror as I smeared it all over my face and neck (front and back). I hate putting the stuff on my face, but knew I needed more than SPF15 from my moisturizer. I'll pay for it tomorrow when I have more breakouts, but it's better than a sunburn. I covered every piggy on my feet and moved up my legs. The last thing I wanted was sunburned feet. Ever had them? Agony.
We spent the day in beautiful weather. Enjoyed Shamu and Sesame Street. And as we left the park I looked down to find my upper appendages were bright red! I worried so much about getting everyone else sunblocked that I forgot to do my arms! AAH!
That's what happens when you're a Mom, I guess. Now I get to suffer through all the pain and discomfort while everyone else has barely a golden glow.

Today, I'm lotioning myself- FIRST!!!

Good things come in small packages

This afternoon I was moving some boxes around when Evan said "Hey, did you get the package on the front doorstep?"
We both went to the front door. As Evan turned the latch to unlock the door I peeked through the window to the porch. It took a moment to register what I saw before I started squeeling with glee. It was a small cardboard box with package tape on it that read "Moda- United Notions".

Most of you should know by now what "Moda" is. If by some chance you don't- allow me to fill you in. Moda is THE company for quilt fabric. Ok, so there's a few other good ones out there, but MODA is the BEST! Really.

I've been a big fan since I started quilting and sometimes refer to myself as a Moda-snob because I really only prefer their fabric. I also go online at LEAST once a week to see if they've added any new collections so I can be on top of it when they hit the stores.

About a month ago I was contact by Moda to distribute 'Crazy Old Ladies' patterns. I thought this was as good as it could get. Until today! I was sent 7 bundels of fabric. Not just any fabric. But new fabric lines that haven't hit the stores yet. They send them to designers so that designers can start designing and have product ready to sell when the fabric is on the shelves. This time when they sent them out to designers- I WAS ON THE LIST!

Monday, Monday (Na, Naa, Naa, Na, Na, Na)

Ok, is it sad that I know that song? (Thanks, Mom)

M- More- Today I have MORE laundry than I want to do.

O- One- The number of cars we have right now leaving me stranded while Gilbert is at work.

N- None- The amount of Black Toner I have in my printer! AH!

D- Dishes- Piling up, just like the laundry. ;o)

A- A- What Canadians say at the end of every sentence. (Sorry, couldn't think of anything else)

Y- YEA!- As in YEA! the sun is shining today! It almost feels like Spring except that it's still a little cold out.

Blahg

Thanks to all of my friends that allowed me to whine and complain yesterday on my blog. Thankfully I am feeling much better today.

The weather still sucks. But I got an awesome email this morning from my favorite fabric company about working with them on a coupld projects. I think right now I am on cloud 9! (That's actually not too far up there since the clouds are so low today.) But still, I am pretty stoked.

So even though it's rainy and gloomy I have a reason to smile today. I hope it can carry me through!

Thanks again for all your support!

A time to blog

It's 4:45pm and the sun has gone away. Dark gray clouds are moving in. Another storm is on the way. It just feels gloomy. It doesn't help that all the lights are off inside.

Our joy of selling the shop has settled into reality as we browse a pile of bills and find out just how bad things were getting. Obviously they could've been lots worse. But right now it's down right yucky!

Gilbert connected with an old friend (his college roommate from when we met) who is also going thought the Border Patrol process. They talked on the phone for a bit about what they knew and what they might expect. We still don't know very much but it looks like we'll be putting our house on the market soon. Selling is taking a while these days and although many people keep telling us we won't have a hard time selling (I think they're just trying to be nice) we better list it now so that when/if the time comes we'll be able t go.

As much as I don't like the thought of moving (I hate it!) I'm almost just as excited to start over somewhere else. Somewhere where the sun shines in the spring.

Gosh dang it! Where are you sun? Maybe it will stop by for a visit tomorrow. I could use it.
